Water Magicians Episode on Women’s Circles

This is the start of a series of chats with Fiona Gardner, Ana Seahawk and Megan Macdonald.

We have started hosting Shivambu Women’s Circles (!) and here we discuss why and what we found hosting the first one. There are no replays for people who were not present, to maintain confidentiality. And to come as close as we can to the sense of intimacy that we have all experienced in Women’s Circles that gather in person.

We discuss why creating a private, safe space for women to talk openly about Shivambu and self-care is so transformative.

Some themes that came up from the participants include:
Many practitioners engage with Shivambu in secret from partners or family. Sitting in a group fosters a deep sense of shared experience, curiosity and trust, as well as validation. We feel less alone in community.
The important to share that the practice is more than physical healing; it is a spiritual and holistic journey involving intuition, self-relationship, self-acceptance, and more deeply understanding one's own body.
The circle offers a gentle, unhurried way for newcomers to learn through raw, unscripted personal stories rather than structured workshops or books.

About - Megan Macdonald, PhD, is the founder of the Urine Therapy Research Initiative (UTRI) and facilitator of the Shivambhu Community of Practice. Her work brings together research, history, lived experience, and community wisdom to explore the ancient practice of Shivambhu (Urine Therapy). With a PhD in the Performance of Belief from Queen Mary, University of London, Megan combines academic inquiry with years of personal practice and facilitation. Rather than telling people what to believe, she invites them to observe more carefully, shift the lens of their questions, and discover what is true through their own experience.

Megan's work explores two complementary paths of self-healing that have profoundly transformed her own life. Shivambhu cultivates a daily relationship with the body's innate intelligence through direct experience and observation. The Self-Healing Dalian Method, created by Mada Eliza Dalian, enables the transformation of unconscious beliefs, conditioning and patterns, allowing for conscious awareness to expand. Together, these practices have shaped her approach to healing, research, and the power of community for growth.
