Shivambhu: the direct feedback loop with Joanne and Megan
In this wide-ranging conversation, Megan Macdonald and Joanne Humphreys (“Ana Seahawk”) reflect on how Shivambu or Plasma (urine therapy) reshapes not only diet, but mindset, identity, and relationship to the world.
They explore Shivambu as a direct, embodied feedback loop that guides intuitive eating and lifestyle choices through taste, energy, and bodily sensation. The experience is one of gradually loosening dependence on rigid food rules, expert authority, or external validation.
Both describe how the practice tends to simplify diet over time, increase sensitivity to refined sugar and chloride (salt), and deepen awareness of how food nourishes emotionally as well as physically.
The conversation weaves together Ayurveda, lived experience, and emerging science, particularly Dr. Gerald Pollack’s work on “fourth phase water” (H₃O₂).
Beyond food, they speak candidly about the freedom and social friction that can arise when one’s relationship to nourishment changes: relocating, reducing consumption, questioning medical authority, and navigating family pressure around conventional eating.
They also touch on:
• Fasting and gentle cleansing vs. forcing intensity
• The role of awareness, gratitude, and “saying thanks/grace” before eating
• Using human urine in gardening and household cleaning
• Personal stories of health shifts in family members
• Community, experimentation, and the value of lived evidence over abstract metrics
Overall, the episode frames Shivambu less as a “protocol” and more a doorway into greater bodily literacy, self-trust, and ecological responsibility.
• Shivambu Basti (rectal micro-dose of urine) — applied with a small plastic syringe

Megan Macdonald, PhD
Megan brings together self-healing methods and a background in the academic study of ritual and belief. She has seen the most profound changes in her own health through two methods in particular: the Self-Healing Dalian Method and Shivambhu/Urine Therapy. She has a PhD in the ‘Performance of Belief’ from Queen Mary, University of London and is a published author. She deals in taboo, exploring the unconscious and teaching the tools that lead to deep health in every aspect of life. Megan facilitates these two self-healing methods: Shivambhu and the Dalian Method (Mada Dalian is the creator of this method); the two most powerful methods she’s found to improve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.
